Kuantan, 21st June – Nothing is much happier than to see the smile on the faces of these orphans, asnaf and the disabled when they were given the opportunity to shop for Aidilfitri at Mydin Hypermarket in Kuantan.

Donation in forms of hari raya clothes and cookies were distribute in Baju Raya Matahari Project, a collaboration project by Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and UMP Women’s Association (Matahari), in conjunction with Jejak Asnaf program, a program under Mygift initiatives introduced by the university.

Also present in this program were Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Prof. Dato’ Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin and Matahari President, Prof. Datin Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim.

According to Prof. Dato’ Dr. Yuserrie, this program is a continuity from MyGift program that has been done throughout the year focusing to help the local community. This donation could at least help to ease their burden and give them the opportunity to celebrate Aidilfitri that is coming soon.

In conjunction with this holy month of Ramadan, UMP team up with UDA Holdings to organize Indahnya Ramadan UDA-Komuniti 1 Malaysia (KIM) Program, Iftar, Singgah Sahur, Celebrating Ramadan UMP - Program Mesra Dakwah Club (PERAMAH) and Jejak Asnaf Program. Basic daily needs were donated to asnaf in Pekan and Kuantan in this program.

Prof Datin Dr Mimi Sakinah said, Matahari always look for opportunity where they can lend a helping hand to help single mother, orphans and asnaf. In this month of Ramadan, they have helped more than 200 people by donating basic needs, health kit and also hari raya cookies. Volunteers from Registry Department, Islamic Centre & Human Development and Matahari members help distributing the donations.

RM129 thousand for Ramadhan Activities

Pekan, 16 May – Islamic Centre & Human Development (PIMPIN) will be organizing Ramadhan Festival to enliven the Holy Month of Ramadhan. Various activities will done from 15 May to 13 June 2018, such as Tarawikh Prayer, Quran Recital, Iftar Jamaie, Nuzul Al-Quran Seminar and many more.

UMP Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato. Sri Ts Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim handed over a cheque replica to PIMPIN Director, Dr. Mahyudin Ismail in an event that was held at Chancellery Tun Abdul Razak, UMP Pekan today. RM129 thousand were donated from MyGift Fund to be used for Ramadhan activities.

Prof. Dato’ Sri Ts Dr. Daing said, this donation is accumulated from fund collection, personal and corporate sponsorship through the UMP MyGift Endowment Initiatives launched by this university. This includes Ramadhan Activities Fund, a fund established to manage activities during the month of Ramadhan such as the preparation of Iftar and sahur.

“This contribution could help the management of the mosque to enliven this holy month with all sorts of activities beneficial to all staffs and students of UMP. This practice of breaking fast together at the mosque started few years back and will continue to be done since it receive a good response from UMP students and staffs”, he added.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahyudin said, PIMPIN is still maintaining the same concept, where each department took the responsibility to cook the menu which has been set earlier. They were helped by the students in preparing the food.

Food for iftar are prepared for 1400 students while for sahur the food are prepared for 200-300 students in each campus, he added.

He really hopes that everybody could take this opportunity to do good deed in this holy month of Ramadhan by donating to this fund.

Education Incentive Scheme to Aid New Students

22 new student have been selected to receive Education Incentive Scheme in this 2017/2018 academic year. They were shortlisted by Student Affairs & Alumni Department based on criteria that they comes from a very poor family and facing financial issue. This aid is to help them in preparing basic need to furthering their studies here in UMP.

According to Nik Muhammad Azzam Nik Mat, 20 from Kampung Kubang Telaga Bachok Kelantan, he feels grateful and thanked the University for giving him the opportunity to further his study. He added, with the aid received, it really helps to alleviate the burden they are facing to pay for the registration fees.

Another aid receiver, Nor Farah Diana Azad, from Faculty of Computer Systems & Software Engineering, she was so moved by the sacrifice made by her father to ensure she arrived at UMP Gambang to register for the course.

2007 new students registered for the 2017/2018 Academic Year to pursue undergraduate degree program. Registration program were held at Sports Complex in Gambang Campus and at Students Activity Center in Pekan campus.

Induction week (MINDS) for new students will be held from 27th August until 2nd September 2017. Induction week will be full with program such as academic briefing, introduction to campus life and also UMP Vice-Chancellor Notes to all the new students.
